‘Everybody should discover the yew for themselves’
Allen Meredith
In my search of the oldest living creatures on earth I came upon the yew tree. These portraits are a contemplative conversation with the old wizards, between 800 and 1500 years old. Their wild branches, massive trunks and solid roots are full of stories and legends.
They live in Great Britain.
The old Bristlecone pine lives in the semi-arid white mountains of California and in the Great Basin lake area in Nevada. In age they are older then the yew tree. The oldest still living is 4300 years.
The photo’s are made in Great Basin national park. It was a great pleasure to spent time in their presence.
The sea fascinates me, the immense mass of water, the endless horizons. For years I am trying to make the ultime photo of the sea.
